Lord today I'm reminded in Psalm 19 that Your law or Your precepts, are perfect and convert the soul; Your testimony is sure, making wise the simple; Your statutes are right, rejoicing the heart; Your commandments are pure, enlightening the eyes; the fear of the Lord is clean enduring forever; and Your judgments Lord are true and righteous altogether. More to be desired are they than gold, yea than much fine gold;
The fear of the Lord is clean… what does that mean? Lord I think of the fear that I see in this world. It definitely is not what I would consider clean fear, and I'm thankful that it does not endure forever. Usually the things I fear here pass relatively quickly. So I like the idea as I think about it, that the reverent respect (fear) I have for You is clean, or pure, and endures forever. It seems that it is the foundation for believing and living Your righteous judgments which are also eternal and in keeping them there is great reward...
Lord as I ponder "reward" I don't see it is something given at the end of my journey here on earth but the reward is being kept from sin and living in an acceptable manner which pleases You. Then You will bless with Your presence and Your cleansing. O to be clean, Lord, as I live in a world of filth. To be kept from hidden faults which are lurking in my heart.
Lord may I meditate on Your word today, that the meditation of my heart and the words of my lips be pleasing to You . I pray in Jesus name. AMEN.
