Remember what I told you: I'm going away, but I will come back to you again. If you really loved Me, you would be happy that I'm going to the Father, who is greater than I am. John 14:28

If you really loved Me... We are going throught the Engagement Project in Sunday School and one lesson pointed out how we each have written our own script for life. We each want everything to happen according to our script. Jesus words "If you really loved me" resonate with me because the disciples each had their own script and their Messiah going away didn't enhance their script.

Jesus goes on to say but I will do what the Father requires of Me, so that the world will know that I love the Father. Jesus is perhaps the only man who ever lived wasn't concerned about His own script. He loved the Father and therefore was more concerned about the Father's script than His own.

King David in Psalm 109 cries our "help me. O Lord my God! Save me because of Your unfailing love."

Even David, a man after God's own heart was concerned about his script. But He knew that God's unfailing love could always be depended upon.

I am reminded today what love does to our script. Love changes everything. When we truly love others we interupt our personal scripts to do what is best for them. We want what is best for them.

Jesus was pointing out to His disciples that they were more concerned about their own scripts and not really caring that He was going to return to His prior state of glory which He had before coming to the earth. That He was going to rejoin His Heavenly Father whom He loved very much. Love would have been happy for Him rather than sad for themselves.

Heavenly Father I am convicted today that most of what I do is because it enhances my script. O Lord please help me to have a love for You and others that always makes me mindful of their script. What is best for them. What brings happiness and fulfillment to them. Jesus Himself said I do the will of My Father so the world will know that I love Him. Help my love for You to show through my life choices and service to others today. I pray in Jesus name. AMEN AMEN.
