O Lord, our Lord, how excellent is Your name in all the earth, You who have set Your glory above the heavens! Psalm 8:1

The moon and the stars, which You ordained... Have you ever given thought as to the nature of praise which God's creation gives. It is uninterrupted, consistent, vibrant, and without calculation.

In the same way Psalm 8 says out of the mouth of babes and nursing infants You have ordained strength,(perfect praise) because of Your enemies, that You may silence the enemy and avenger.

Children are not blinded by pride and hypocrisy and are better able to perceive spiritual truth. Jesus accepts their worship because it is untainted and reserved for God alone.

Praise for God from children is perfect because they can comprehend the realities of God's kingdom that even most learned fail to grasp. Jesus himself affirmed the ability of children to perceive the secrets of God's kingdom when others could not.

The Jewish leaders of Jesus' day were perfect examples of the enemy being silenced by children's praise. They witnessed Christ's victorious entry into Jerusalem, the ecstatic crowd of worshipers, His commanding cleansing of the temple, His miracles of healing, and perhaps the greatest testimony of Him being the Messiah, the Son of God, were the children shouting Hosanna! Praise God for the son of David.

The Jewish leaders pointed out what they saw as a dreadful error - children worshiping Jesus as Messiah - they thought Jesus would be horrified that He had misled these innocent ones, even causing them to commit blasphemy. Surely Jesus would put a quick stop to it. But instead, Jesus saw nothing wrong with receiving their praise. He accepted it enthusiastically, supporting their actions by referring to Psalm 8. The Jewish leaders were the same as God's Old Testament enemies who would be silenced and put to shame by children's praise.

O Heavenly Father that we may praise You with the enthusiasm of children. That our praise would be untainted, unreserved, uncalculated, uninterrupted, consistent, and vibrant. Help us with the innocence of children to cry out Hosanna, Praise to the Son of David. Thank you for Psalm 8 and all that it teaches us. In Jesus name. AMEN AMEN.
