AN INSIDE JOB!
We often think of an inside job as a crime committed by somebody who had trusted access. They use their trust and their access to their advantage. A bank teller might use their position to slowly transfer funds from customers accounts into a personal account.
It would be quite the story if they did the opposite. If they used their trust and access to deposit their money into customers accounts as a free gift.
Jesus didn't observe our human experience from a distance. He entered it. Walked around in skin that bruised and bled. Felt hunger. Exhaustion. The weight of a body that wouldn't last forever. He was fully God yet fully human. Breakable. Mortal.
Why? The job He had to do needed to be done from the inside. The deepest human fear is the fear that's been with us since the fall. Jesus entered into humanity to meet and conquer it from the inside.
Death was redefined. What looked permanent became temporary. What felt like the end to became a doorway. What held humanity hostage for generations lost its claim the moment Jesus walked out of the tomb in a resurrected body.
The lifelong dread of death.... Conquered. Jesus entered humanities's worst fear for us. He came out the other side holding the keys. The dread that haunted humanity met its end inside a tomb.
2 Corinthians 1:22 God "put His Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come".
Ephesians 1:13-14 believers are marked with "the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance".
It was an inside job! What an amazing God. What an amazing plan. What an amazing victory and what an amazing love...
We are familiar with stories of notorious crime rings. Often law-enforcement will pose as a criminal to try to get inside the crime ring for the purpose of gaining information that will be held against the ring leaders in a court of law to bring them to justice. Imagine someone posing as a criminal to get inside the crime ring to save each ring leader and everyone involved.
God certainly has enough evidence to find everyone of us guilty, yet He stepped into our crime ring not to hold us accountable and bring us to justice, but to take our sentence, which was death, and to offer us life. To save us.
He who knew no sin became sin for us that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. 2 Corinthians 5:21
Heavenly Father I thank You for the inside job Jesus did. I thank you for the inside job You are still doing in our hearts. Conforming, shaping, molding us into Your likeness. When we think of our salvation in terms of an inside job we are in awe that You would set aside Your Heavenly glory to take on flesh and take the most powerful tool our enemy had and render it harmless. Change it into a simple doorway, a gateway into something glorious for us. Thank You in Jesus name. AMEN AMEN
