The Lord took a hold of me, and I was carried away by the Spirit of the Lord to a valley filled with bones. He led me all around among the bones that covered the valley floor. They were scattered everywhere across the ground and were completely dried out. Then He asked me, "son of man, can these bones become living people again?""Sovereign Lord," I replied, "You alone know the answer to that." Ezekiel 37: 1–3

This is one of my favorite bible stories. I love the thought of the dry bones rattling as they work their way to find each other. I was reminded of the story again in my devotions this morning. As all of these bones came together to form skeletons the thought was brought out, you can have shape without life, movement without spirit. The appearance of restoration while everything inside is still hollow.

Have you ever left your Bible reading feeling assembled but empty. Not in crisis, just dry? The God who raises from the graves is the God who breathes life into His people. It is life, that only God can give.

Paul in recalling the deadness of Abraham and Sarah in their old age, as Sarah was about to give birth to Isaac, states it is "God who gives life to the dead and calls those things which do not exist as though they did."

I have seen many people who seemed all put together on the outside, yet lacked life on the inside. They were just going through the motions. You can look fine and still need resurrection!

O Heavenly Father please breath life into the areas of our lives where we are just going through the motions. Where we seem fine on the outside, but have movement with no Spirit. Where there is a hollowness. You are the God who gives life to the dead and calls those things which do not exist as though they did. Father we don't ask for improvement, we ask for resurrection. In Jesus name. AMEN AMEN
