We are made right with God by placing our faith in Jesus Christ. And this is for everyone who believes, no matter who we are. Romans 3:22 NKJV

I was listening to my audio book "the Autobiography of John Lennox" narrated by John Lennox and he mentioned something interesting about his faith journey. He mention faith in faith vs faith in Christ.

Paul was contending with Jews who had been living by the laws of God as given to them by Moses. So Paul presents faith versus works. By faith are you saved, not by works...lest anyone be able to boast. Yet lets consider John Lennox's point about faith.

Sometimes if we are honest with ourselves we feel like faith is a tool, energy, or force that we must muster up to achieve a result or feel at peace. It seems like the object of our faith doesn't matter; it is about how much or how well we believe, rather than who we are trusting in.

If my faith is responsible for me to gain access to the righteousness that comes from God, that has human condition problems.

John Lennox is a brilliant scholar and man of God who believes that math, science and astronomy all lead to God and christianity is based on many proven facts. Faith then is an intellectual acceptance of those facts. It is believing and therefore trusting in the proven resurrected Christ and His accomplished work.

The value and power therefore of our faith rests entirely on Jesus Christ, not the strength of the believers mind. It is defined as completely relying on Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, entrusting oneself to His death and resurrection.

For all who believe one must contribute to our salvation we need to give serious thought as to the placement of our faith. Is it faith in faith, or faith in Christ. Our peace should come from Christ's finished work on the cross, not the quality of our heart/faith. Even small trembling faith saves because it looks to a mighty Savior!

Heavenly Father thank you for the these thoughts today. Oh how often we wonder if our faith is enough or If we truly are believing enough. How misguided we can be. It is not about us at all. Jesus gave His life as payment for our sins. That is a fact. When we truly believe that, it is put on our account as righteousness and our sin debt is removed. It is straight forward and factual. I believe it to be true. AMEN AMEN.
