Have you ever thought about how clueless we are when it comes to holiness?

We have never known one day apart from sin. Sinful thoughts or sinful actions.

Maybe I am just slow, or maybe I like to keep coming back to things and thinking a litter deeper on them. Things like Christ being our Mediator. I understand the general role of mediators which is conflict resolution. But I can't seem to fathom how unequal the two parties are in our case. It is not like equal business partners parted ways due to unresolved conflict.

In our sinful state we simply could not come into the presence of our God without being completey undone or destroyed. In love God kicked Adam and Eve out of the garden of Eden and barred reentry lest they eat of the tree of life and be forever stuck in their sinful state.

My heart aches for the intimate fellowship once enjoyed by Adam and Eve before their sin. Fellowship never again enjoyed by them for the rest of their lives. What a devastating decision they made.

I think of the two disciples on the road to Emmaus. When the resurrected yet unrealized Savior walked and talked with them and then departed, they said oh, did not our hearts burn within us when we talked with Him?

I am thankful for the access we have been given before our Heavenly Father. But access doesn't equal intimacy. I long for the holiness of a resurrected body where we will see Him as He really is.

"Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is."

1 John 3:2

Can you imagine what truely seeing Christ in His glorified state will be like? There is the disconnect. We can't even image that which we have never known, yet we can long for it.

Heavenly Father I long for the sweet fellowship once enjoyed by Adam and Eve. I do thank You for the sweet intamacey we can have with You as limitied as it is by our inability to see You as Your really are...Yet one day our hope shall be fully realized, so let us endure this race we are in with perseverance. I pray in Jesus name. AMEN
