The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified. Truly, truly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit. John 12:23-24

The word that comes to mind this morning is tension. When a seed falls into the ground a great tension begins as the seed expands and stretches to eventually break forth into something glorious.

Children of God and all of creation find themselves in that state of tension. Because Christ arose from the dead so shall we, but until that time there is a tension. A pulling, a stretching, that will one day give way to something glorious.

Sometimes when I am setting on a frozen pond ice fishing on a cold winter day, I hear the ice groaning and making strange noises. Even though the ice may be 12" thick it will crack from the tension it is under as it forms new ice.

That is exactly the image I get when the bible says the whole of creation is groaning as we await for the new to come forth. So until then there is a tension within us as are getting ready for the old to give way to the new.

Praise God that Jesus defeated death and the grave or there would be no tension. Death would have the final say. But it doesn't, it is only the beginning of something beautiful and glorious.

Heavenly Father thank you that tension one will one day give way to glory. Thank You that Jesus laid down His life only to take it up again. Death has no more victory over us. The tension we experience now will one day give way to glory. Praise be to Jesus. AMEN AMEN
