The Lord is my strength and shield. I trust Him with all my heart. He helps me, and my heart is filled with joy. I burst out in songs of thanksgiving. Psalm 28:7

The Lord's help results in joy, which results in songs of thanksgiving. Have you ever pondered where joy and song originated. God spoke, and galaxies ignited. He created, and oceans surged. He reached into the dust and formed humanity. By his breath life began.

Breath plus sound becomes voice. The very first voice to echo through creation was God's, bringing light out of darkness and order out of nothing. That same voice speaks today, and His breath still gives life.

Have you ever imagined what that first moment of creation sounded like? Was God's voice a whisper that shook the universe? A song that painted the stars? Where did the stars learn to sing. Job 38:7 says "as the morning stars sang together and the angels shouted for joy."

Perhaps this morning is a bit of a contemplative morning for me but as the sun came up this morning, it was hitting the tops of the trees and worked its way down the tree, and it was as if the tree was coming to life. Colors which seemed hidden ignited as the glow of the sun hit them, and it was as if they were bursting into song themselves.

All of creation declares its Maker, and if we listen it is as if it does so with song.

The first part of our verse this moring reminds us that we live in a fallen world. A world where a battle rages and we need strength, and we need a shield. God is both of those for us so that even as the battle rages around us our hearts can fill with joy and burst forth in song.

Perhaps today you need reminded that the Lord is your strength and shield. Perhaps you have been trying too hard and surrendering to little. May you be encouraged today to turn to God for your strength and your protection. May you light up with the joy of heaven just as the trees in all their fall colors did this morning as the sun hit them.

Thank you Heavenly Father for the reminder today that though we live in a fallen world, You are our strength and our shield. May we be filled with the joy of the Lord today and sing Your praise. In Jesus name. AMEN AMEN.
