Remove from me the way of lying, and grant me Your law graciously. Psalm 119:29

Keep me from lying to myself; give me the privilege of knowing Your instructions. NLT

Father as I study this verse this morning, it seems "the way" of lying was a well worn path, or a habit. The NLT version makes it much more personal... Keep me from lying to myself.

"Grant me" Your law graciously means to bend or stoop down in kindness to an inferior.

Like it or not it seems that at times we all have an either over-inflated or under-inflated view of self. It seems to me the plea of the Psalmist is a plea that You would graciously bend down and give him Your instruction. That Your truth would set within him a proper view of self.

For the times when we think too highly of self it would remind us that our soul clings to the dust, and we need You to revive us according to Your word. For the times we have an under inflated view of self, it would remind us that we are loved, honored, and cherished, children of the Most High.

So my prayer today Heavenly Father is that You would indeed help me to have a proper view of self. That You would indeed bend or stoop down to put Your instruction in my heart. That You would set my feet on the path of humility and right thinking. Help me to see myself for who I am in Christ Jesus. Help me to put up my shield of faith and quench all the fiery darts that the evil one would shoot at me this day to try and get me to believe anything other than what You say of me. I pray in Jesus name. Amen. Amen
