Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. Psalm 119:105
Father as I close my eyes this morning and think back through my life, there have been so many times where this verse has proven true. Times when I seemed to only know the next right thing to do. And as I did the next right thing then the next right thing became clear.
How did I as a young man know what the next right thing was? I thank You that it was because I have had a love and a passion for Your word since a very young age.
I remember one day driving to a job and a certain series of events took place and a man pulled in front of my car and literally forced me to come to a stop. That man had a perception in his mind that was his reality, and I could see as he came back to my car with veins bulging in his neck and his forehead, I needed Your wisdom at that very moment. I quickly prayed and the verse I had memorized, "A soft answer turns away wrath," quickly came to my mind. I humbly apologized to the man for what he perceived my actions to be. I saw firsthand how Your word was a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. It turned away wrath and possibly saved my life that day.
On many occasions when things didn't go just as I had planned in life the verse "a man plans his steps but the Lord directs his path" woud come to mind. I have since learned to accept "Divine detours" as a way of life.
Sometimes on our health journey, the lamp and the light didn't seem to shine at the same time. There was enough light to take the next step but the path ahead seemed dimly lit. With confidence, we took the next step in faith then the path ahead seemed to light up as we walked.
Heavenly Father, the words of the song Trust and Obey come to mind. When we walk with the Lord, in the light of His word, what glory He sheds on our way! While we do His goodwill, He abides with us still, and with all who will trust and obey. Trust and obey, for there's no other way, to be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey. Thank You in Jesus name. AMEN
