But as many as received Him, to them gave me the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name. John 1:12
Heavenly Father when Jesus rose from the dead He said to Mary go and tell my brethren to go into Galilee and there they will see Me.
Adopted into the family. My Maker is my Father, and my Savior is my brother.
Lord as I consider my parents. They were certainly trying to figure life out on the go, like every parent. They didn't get many things right. The cycle seems to continue for every family. There are no perfect parents in this world. The fact that our kids turn out to have any semblance of what is good and right is sometimes amazing.
Lord Jesus You set the standard for me and revealed the number one principal which is; imitating the Father. Loving my enemies… You said that ye may be children of your Father which is in heaven… be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.
My earthly Father was a good man yet far from perfect and would have been the first to say don't imitate me. I have prided myself to be like him in many areas and yet would say to my children don't imitate me.
Father, how wonderful it is to have a Heavenly Father that I can imitate. One who is pure, holy, and just in every way. The transition from being a follower to a child and a brother of my Lord and Savior, is really more than I can grasp. For I feel like John the Baptist who said I am not worthy to stoop down and untie the sandals of Jesus. Yet Jesus You have reached down and grabbed my hand, lifted me up and called me a brother. That is definitely a grace that is beyond my comprehension. I think it's fair to say I will never see You as a brother, but always as my Lord and Savior, but I am thankful for being adopted into the family. In Your name. AMEN.
