It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you: He will never leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed. Deuteronomy 31:8

Do you ever feel worried or unhappy because of an unexpected and unwelcome situation? That is what it means to be dismayed.

Whatever path we may be on, the Lord is going before us. However unwelcome or unexpected or situation the Lord is with us. That means the One who rules the world is by our side and we should be comforted by that.

So where does the disconnect come in? Why do we worry and why do we get dismayed? Perhaps we let the situation get between us and the Lord. He is with us but it is like He is on the other side of a crowded room.

It seems the real work is to make sure we are close to Him and let the crowded room press us into Him rather than separate us from Him. That takes an awareness and intentionality that can wear us out. Being in His presence isn't wearisome, but keeping everything that wants to get between us cleared away is.

Lord may you make us keenly aware of all that is trying to get between us today. We know nothing can separate us from You but it seems a lot can come between us. In Jesus name AMEN AMEN

Nothing between my soul and the Savior, naught of this world's delusive dream. Nothing between like worldly pleasure, habits of life, though harmless they seem, must not from Jesus my heart be severed. Nothing between when burdened with trials, Though the whole world against me convene. Watching in prayer and careful denial...Triumph at last with nothing between.
