But Jesus often withdrew to the wilderness for prayer. Luke 5:16

Jesus had just healed a man with an advanced case of leprosy. News quickly spread and soon Jesus had so many people around Him there was no more space left as others tried to get to Him.

In this wonderful account of Jesus healing people, there is "But Jesus"...

"But Jesus" often withdrew himself....and prayed. Jesus, the pre-incarnate Christ. God in the flesh. We go to God in prayer for many things but the one that seems most neccesary is to replenish our strength. The "flesh" is weak. We get physically and emotionally exhausted and the "rest" and "strength" to recharge us is found in our Creator. Jesus as a man knew this to be true. As a man Jesus had limitations. People were constantly taking from Him. So He would go to the One who could give back. The One whose endless supply could refill the Son who had stepped into the realm of limitations.

Certainly that is not the only reason Jesus went to spend time with His Father, and it is not the only reason we do. But while we are worshipping, while we are spending time in God's presence, our tank is getting refilled and we come away refreshed and recharged.

O Thank You Heavenly Father for hearing our prayers, for strengthening our feeble bodies. Thank you for recharging us emotionally. Physically equipping us go out into the world and be your ambassadors. We can give because we have an endless supply Grace to recharge us each and every day. May we give all for You. Giving as is given to us, freely. In Jesus name. AMEN
