"Nailed it!"

It's a metaphor for doing something exactly right or completing a task perfectly.

No one really knows where this metaphor originated. But I have a pretty good idea.

Colossians 2:14 having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having "nailed it" to the cross.

This section in Colossians is one that you need to just camp on, and let the truth of it just fill your cup.

And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you "All" trespasses.

When we sin the Devil thinks he has "nailed it." He thinks he really has something on us now. The Bible calls the devil the "accuser of the brethren." He brings our shortcomings before God and God simply points him to the cross, and the sign which says "all trespasses canceled" which is nailed to it.

That's what makes the truth of these verses so powerful. Jesus is the only one who has "nailed it." Yes all of the accusations, as true as they may be, have been nailed to the cross. Cancel, written in large blood stained letters across them.

Verse 15 says "having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it."

Christ really did "nail it". He did it exactly right. He completed the task perfectly.

The next time you hear someone say "nailed it", you can smile and say, Yes He did!

Heavenly Father thank you so much that Christ disarmed all principalities and powers. He has made a public spectacle of them by triumphing over them on the cross. Thank you that though we were once dead in our sins, He has made us alive together with Christ having forgiven us all our trespasses. AMEN AMEN
