For you know… right... that God paid a ransom to save you from the empty life you inherited from your ancestors. And it was not paid with mere gold or silver, which lose their value. It was the precious blood of Christ, the sinless, spotless Lamb of God. 1 Peter 1:18-19

Gosh, I can not remember being so exited about a chapter in the bible as I am with First Peter chapter one. I've probably read it a hundred times before, but it is as if I have never read it, and it is new news.

We are chosen people.

The Holy Spirit has made us holy.

We have been born again because God raised Jesus Christ from the dead.

We live with great expectation.

We have a priceless inheritance that is reserved in heaven for us and it is pure and undefiled beyond the reach of change or decay.

God is protecting us until our salvation is fully realized at the second coming of Christ.

We have a wonderful joy and faith that sees us through any trials.

God paid a ransom to save us from our empty lives.

We were cleansed from our sin when we obeyed the truth.

Our new life will last forever because it comes from the eternal living word of God.

You can't make this kind of stuff up. It is the best love story ever written. Because of God's love shown to us, we are to love each other deeply with all our heart.

Heavenly Father, again, I am so deeply moved by Your living word. It truly is rich and powerful, sharper than a two-edged sword. 1 Peter has cut me deep in a good way. I feel so blessed. Thank you for Your wonderful love. Help me to love as You love. In Jesus name AMEN.
