The red Sea saw them coming and hurried out of their way!
The water of the Jordan River turned away.
The mountains skipped like Rams, the hills like lambs!
What's wrong, Red Sea, that made you hurry out of their way?
What happened, Jordan River, that you turned away?
Why mountains, did you skip like rams? Why, hills, like lambs?
Tremble, O earth, at the presence of the Lord. Psalm 114
Lord I love the imagery that these verses bring. How the earth trembles at your presence. How your people benefited as the very sea parted and the Jordan River stopped up.
It truly makes me question why I ever fear of circumstances. The way I see it the only reason to fear would be if I am not in Your presence.
It kind of goes along with the scripture I was reading in the gospel of Matthew this morning where Jesus said do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Then Jesus said seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.
Father I asked You what seeking Your kingdom and Your righteousness looks like. It seems to me like it is a constant and steady pursuit of You. So I would ask you Lord to reveal Yourself to me not only in Your word as I read it but in all the space that you fill around me. I ask that You would give me eyes to see and ears to hear You as You speak to me throughout this day. In Jesus name I pray Amen.
