Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and widows in their distress and refusing to let the world corrupt you. James 1:27

In the game of football there are players who are good at defense and there are those who are good at offense. On occasion you will find those who have the ability to play on both sides of the ball well. We call them two-way players.

Lord it seems like James is calling for us to be two-way players. On the side of offense we or to care for orphans and widows. To move the ball forward on their behalf. But James also says we need to be on the defensive side as well. The world is not the earth. The world is a a system with a playbook designed by our enemy to advance the ball. To shorten our field of play, and score against us.

Offensive play and success is usually set up by really good defense. Lord I pray that You would help to have a really good defensive plan. To see the enemies tactics and not let him advanced the ball into my territory and shorten my field of play and score against me.

I do that lord by studying Your word and equipping myself with armor to be able to stand and not give up ground. Help me learn to not take off my armor, nor sit on the sidelines as a spectator. Help me to be a good two-way player. In Jesus name I pray. AMEN.
