For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places. Ephesians 6:12

Oh how easy it is to limit our battles to the faces that stand before us. Paul encourages us to recognize that ideologies, institutions, and trends may carry invisible sponsorship. That truth, righteousness, gospel readiness, faith, salvation, the word, and constant prayer form our only adequate defense.

Therefore, we are to put on every piece of God's armor so we will be ready to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle we will still be standing firm.

Paul couples the armor metaphor with persevering prayer “for all the saints”, highlighting communal resistance rather than solitary heroics.

Why is "Gospel of readiness" part of our weaponry? Because spiritual confrontation rests on Christ’s finished work, not ritual formulas. All of our Armor is Christ based. Only in Christ can we stand against the demonic forces of this world.

Christ has already defeated every enemy we will face so only in Him can we also obtain victory. I have been reminded again of the battle we face on this earth. We live in enemy territory and can never lay down our armor giving the invisible forces around us a chance to advance.

Heavenly Father I pray today that we will be standing in Christ. That we will walk through this life understanding we are on active duty. We are not retired or serving in the reserves. We must be active, the "body" of Christ needs us. Keep us alert and ready I pray in Jesus name AMEN.
