Casting all your anxieties on Him, because He cares for you. 1 Peter 5:7

In first-century Palestine, outer garments were versatile, functioning as protection against weather, bedding, or collateral for a loan. Laying such garments on the colt in Luke 19:35 demonstrated honor and submission; the animal became a throne for the coming King. The visual image of transferring garments foreshadows the spiritual command to transfer anxiety from the believer’s heart to Christ’s care.

One of my favorite verses is John 1:12. But as many as received Him (Christ), to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name.

When we become a child of God, He then carries us in the palm of His hand from which nothing can separate us. A carried child does not need to carry the household. We are never asked to carry our anxiety. We are asked to hand it to Someone who is already carrying us.

When we cast our anxieties upon Him, the weight lifts from us and we are given a somewhat strange and supernatural peace, the kind that doesn't even make sense. Most of the peace we know is circumstantial, fragile and rises and falls with each situation. The moment the situation shifts, the peace evaporates.

We're told to cast all of our anxieties on Him so that we can experience a peace that is not circumstantial. A peace that is relational. If comes from understanding who we are, where we are, and in whose care we are in. This is the kind of peace that will guard our hearts and mind in Christ Jesus.

Heavenly Father thank you for taking such good care of Your children. Jesus is the sweetest name I know and He is just the same as His lovely name. I love how You love us, how You shepherd us. How You make us lie down in green pastures and lead us beside still waters. I love how you tell us to give You all of our anxieties. Thank you in Jesus name. AMEN AMEN

p.s there will be no blog post from July 11-18th as I will be on vacation and without internet. I pray you have a blessed week.
