Blessed... What do you think of when you think of blessed?

Blessed can be the absence of certain things, but it can also be the presence of certain things.

Psalm 128:1 says Blessed is everyone who fears the Lord, who walks in His ways.

This Psalm goes on to say the one who fears the Lord and walks in His ways will be blessed with provision, family well-being, and life long prosperity.

Who wouldn't want that, right? But at the end of the day, those can all go away. Are you then no longer blessed? We have been experiencing some health challenges as many others I know have as well. When your health starts to go away the list of things you see as blessings diminishes quite rapidly.

The blessing we seek each day is the presence of the Lord. To walk with Him. To have an awareness of His presence and a peace that transcends beyond our circumstances. To begin each day praising Him and to walk in relationship with Him throughout our day. So whether peace comes like a river, or trials like sea billows roll, we can say it is well with my soul.

Laura Stories song, "Blessings" says it well:

We pray for blessings

We pray for peace

Comfort for family, protection while we sleep

We pray for healing, for prosperity

We pray for Your mighty hand to ease our suffering

And all the while, You hear each spoken need

Yet love is way too much to give us lesser things

'Cause what if your blessings come through raindrops?

What if Your healing comes through tears?

What if a thousand sleepless nights

Are what it takes to know You're near?

And what if trials of this life are Your mercies in disguise?

What if blessings look nothing like we expected but in the end are so much more than we could have hoped for?

Heavenly Father I know that there are many who are going through hardships right now. I pray they won't miss the blessing of the hardship. I pray with everything else stripped away they will experience You at a level they never have before. That they will sense Your presence, Your love, Your peace, Your blessing. I pray in Jesus name. AMEN
