How kind the Lord is! How good He is! So merciful, this God of ours! Psalm 116:5
I hope this verse resonates with you. I have had some beautiful what I would call, mountain top experiences. Experiences where it's easy to see the handiwork of God and the seas are calm so to speak, and life is good, and it's easy to say "how kind the Lord is! How good He is! So merciful, this God of ours!"
But honestly it's in the valleys of life when we feel like we are struggling for our very existence, either physically or spiritually that I have learned to say how kind the Lord is! How good He is! So merciful, this God of ours!
Every stage of life seems to bring with it its own level of stress, anxiety and more than we can carry ourselves. It is then when we hit our knees and cry out to God that verses like this prove true.
Just this morning I was feeling overwhelmed with life. So many things running through my brain that it was paralyzing me and stealing my joy. (And this was even before I got out of bed) So within 30 minutes of getting up I realized I needed to stop, get on my knees and give it to the Lord. That is when I found this verse to be true for me.
Like the story of Mary and her sister Martha. Martha was overwhelmed with life and Mary was sitting at the feet of Jesus. Martha complained to Jesus and He said "Martha, Martha, you are worried and upset about many things, but few things are needed - or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.
Today, perhaps we all need to learn from Jesus's words to Martha and sit at the feet of Jesus. Perhaps we need a divine reset and let God help us with our perspectives. I pray that we each will be able to say, "how kind the Lord is! How good He is! So merciful, this God of ours!
Heavenly Father I pray today that You will help each of us to pause and sit at Your feet. To unload all that is filling our minds and paralyzing us. May we be reminded of how kind You are, how good You are, and how merciful You are to us. I pray in Jesus name. AMEN
