Journal entry December 6, 2025

He who continually goes forth weeping, bearing seed for sewing, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him. Psalm 126:6

Heavenly Father this psalm was written after Cyrus made it possible for the displaced Jews to go back to their homeland and rebuild their temple after 70 years of Babylonian exile. But it speaks to me of the Eb and flow of life.

Your word says for no sooner has the flower bloomed than its petals fall and the wind blows and it is no more. In this life we have incredibly hard times, seasons of despair, but they're often followed by a time of rejoicing. For me this verse speaks of the hope and rejoicing that we see on the other side of despair.

I've learned in this life when I'm in those times of rejoicing, to pause and thank You for them, for just as quickly as they came, they may vanish again. I am very thankful that my family seems to be in a season of rejoicing at the moment, but perhaps I'm most thankful as I look at the times that seemed like the valley of the shadow of death, that you were with us. You sustained us through the valley and brought us out the other side. However long we get to enjoy the mountain top, I know that You will be with us in the next valley as well.

The book of psalms is filled with those mountain top and valley experiences. The writers rejoiced and then they cried out. All of creation groans under the curse of sin, but one day....one beautiful day, there will be a mountain top experience that shall never again fade away.

Heavenly Father, if the remainder of my days are pain and suffering they would not be worthy of be compared to the glory that awaits me. I have learned that hard with you is better than easy without You. Thank you for always being with me. Your rod and Your staff comfort me. Thank You in Jesus name.
