Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your request to God. Philippians 4:6
Thanksgiving is possible, when we see things with the right perspective. God's perspective.
The barracks where Corrie and Betsie Ten Boom slept in Ravensbrüeck concentration camp was so overcrowded that three women had to share the small same bunk. It was overrun with fleas and lice. Corrie disliked it very much and it annoyed her, but Betsie encouraged Corrie to cast all her burdens with thanksgiving unto God. Corrie was very reluctant to do so and replied "why would you be thankful for the attack of vermin?" But after a while, they discovered that the SS guards would never inspect their barracks because they knew they would be jumped on by fleas and lice. Therefore Corrie and Betsy could have encouraging Bible studies with the ladies in their barracks without being controlled by the guards.
Even after Corrie was released from Ravensbrüeck due to a clerical error, she still had to learn again and again to cast all her burdens on the Lord. One day the Lord talked to her about it and spoke to her heart: "every time you present your sorrows and burdens to Me, you do not leave them in My hands, but take them all back and carry them all day long like a heavy suitcase. Why do you unpack to immediately pack again? If you present your burdens with prayer and supplication, could you really leave them with Me?"
"Could you really leave them with Me?"
Lord please help us to unpack our heavy suitcaeses and then leave them unpacked. Help us to leave everything with You and to do it with thanksgiving. Help us to step back and see things from Your perspective. It isn't that we're not supposed to think about tomorrow, it is that we're not supposed to worry about tomorrow. Help us to not lose our joy today by fretting about tomorrow's things. I pray in Jesus name. AMEN AMEN
