My son, do not forget my law, but let your heart keep My commands; for length of days and long life and peace they will add to you. Proverbs 3:1-2
Who wouldn't want their children to live a long life, to have peace? Psalm 19 comes to mind when I think about God's commands:
The law the Lord is perfect, converting the soul
The testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple
The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart
The commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes
The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever
The judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether....
A long life is not a blessing without peace. God uses the word shalom, which implies wholeness, internal rest, and a tranquil mind.
Taking to heart the words of God calms the storms often raging in our minds. " You will keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on You, because he trust in You. Isaiah 26:3
The antidote for anxiousness, worry, and fear is the word of God. Keeping our minds fixed on God. "The words of God are to be desired more than gold, Yea, than much fine gold; sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb. Moreover by them your servant is warned and then keeping them there is great reward...
Heavenly Father, peace is a beautiful gift which You give to those who pursue You and take Your word to heart. Father, everyone is fighting battles that we can't see. Oh may we each turn to You and fill our minds with Your word. May we find in You the peace that passes all human understanding. I pray in Jesus name. AMEN AMEN
