At the very moment they began to sing and give praise, the Lord caused the armies of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir to start fighting amongst themselves. 2 Chronicles 20:22

This verse is part of one of my favorite stories in the Bible. A vast Army from Edom was marching towards Israel. Jehoshaphat was terrified by this news and begged the Lord for guidance. People from all of the towns of Judah came to Jerusalem to seek the Lord's help.

What would the Lord do? How would the God of Israel intervene on their behalf? What would He ask them to do? I love how the Lord works. The next morning Israel got up and marched out to meet this opposing Army. Who was leading Israel? A group of singers, that's right singers.

At the very moment they began to sing and give praise, the Lord caused the armies of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir to start fighting amongst themselves. By the time Israel got to them they had all killed each other. It took three days for Israel to gather all of the plunder from this vast army.

Worship isn't just for Sundays. It's for moments like this. Worship is a weapon - it wasn't swords or strategy that brought the victory. It was worship. The moment they began to sing and praise, God moved.

Gratitude isn't passive - it's powerful. It changes how we see God, ourselves, and our circumstances. When we worship with gratitude we create space for God to move.

Heavenly Father, at different times throughout our lives we face giants, or vast numbers, or odds that are overwhelming. Things we cannot conquer in our own strength. May we learn that singing Your praises changes everything. Thank You that You are constant, faithful, and good. Thank You for Your presence that never leaves us, for the quiet miracles woven into our every day, even when we don't see them. Help us to choose gratitude over grumbling. To choose worship - not because everything is perfect, but because You are. I pray in Jesus name. AMEN AMEN
