The Lord gives His people strength. He is a safe fortress for his anointed.... Psalm 28:7

Have you ever pondered how the Lord gives His people strength? Is there a role we play and if so what is it?

I can easily understand putting a nozzle in my gas tank and squeezing the lever to allow gas to flow into my tank and shut off when my tank is full, but understanding how God gives us strength is a little less clear.

Have you ever felt the coldness of an empty room, perhaps especially when you were needing encouragement? Things don't encourage us. They don't speak to us, they don't smile at us, they don't make eye contact with us, they don't give us a warm handshake or a reassuring touch on the shoulder or even an encouraging hug.

You add people into the mix and now you have living souls connecting. When God breathed into man and he became a living being he needed another living being to connect with. We are made for relationship.

When we are in relationship with God He strengthens us. We feel His presence, hear His voice and are strengthend. Sometimes the Lord gives His people strength through other people. When we come apart from the world and gather together we strengthen one another. Without each other's presence we feel a little less strengthened.

Souls connecting with other souls is powerful.

In the sports world the crowd in attendance can provide such a level of energy that it feels like there is an extra player on the team. Never under estimate what your presence can do for others. Your smile, your hand shake or hug is an exchange that strengthens each other. It is not the only way the Lord strengthens His people but is an important one.

His written word is also a place where we connect with God and are strengthened. Unlike other books His book is a living book that connects us to Him and strengthens us. According to Joshua meditating on it and keeping it gives us success. According to David it cleanses us and keeps us from sin.

Heavenly Father, thank you for allowing us to be in relationship with You and for connecting with us to strengthen us. Truly we are a bless people. We have the Holy Spirit residing within to help us stay connected and strengthed. Thank You in Jesus name. AMEN
