All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. It is by His great mercy that we have been born again, because God raised Jesus Christ from the dead. Now we live with great expectation, and we have a priceless inheritance - an inheritance that is kept in heaven for you, pure and undefiled, beyond the reach of change and decay. 1 Peter 1:3-4
Because of God's mercy and resurrection of Jesus Christ, believers are born again into a "living Hope," or a confident, eager expectation of an eternal, secure inheritance. Our hope is "living" because it's based on a Risen Savior, empowering us to face trials with joy rather than despair.
Unlike worldly Hope, which is often passive or uncertain, the Greek understanding in this passage refers to an active, assured expectation. It is "living" because it's anchored in the resurrected Jesus, who conquered death.
If Covid has taught us anything, it has taught us that in this life we are not immune to anything. Imagine having something that is completely immune to the destruction and decay of this world. That's what we have in Christ. We have something eternal that is immune to destruction and decay. We know it's real because Christ's Resurrection is real.
The entire concept is birthed from God's "abundant mercy," not human effort, emphasizing that this hope is a gift.
Just let these words flow over you and settle deep into your being... It is by His great mercy that WE have been born again, because God raised Jesus Christ from the dead. Now WE live with great expectation......and WE have a priceless inheritance...an inheritance that is kept in heaven for YOU... pure, undefiled.... beyond the reach of change and decay.
AMEN, AMEN. Thank You Jesus.
